The reason that I came to Dr. Sessa not only was cosmetic but it was necessary. Back in 1998 I was in a motorcycle accident that the bike landed on top of me. And when the bike landed on me, it did a lot of soft tissue damage– it didn’t break any bones. So, over the period of years the skin has gotten full of the little spider veins and it’s gotten to where there was a divot where the bike landed that, no matter how much I work out or anything I could do, I couldn’t do anything about that. The fat pockets had formed above that damaged area of my leg— the soft tissue damage. And working out four or five days a week and doing everything aerobically I could to get rid of that. I just couldn’t get rid of those fat pockets on my right leg. Then I got lazy and over the period of years I just didn’t care so I quit trying to work my legs. Well then, those same fat pockets seemed to form over here on the left leg. So, when I came to Dr. Sessa I said, I’ve lost a total of 60 pounds and I’ve gotten some loose skin on the inside, I’ve got fat pockets from an accident that won’t go away, what can you do for it? And immediately in his wonderfully sweet demeanor he said, I can take the fat pockets out. And I said, okay, tell me what you do. And then he said, I do laser lipo. And he explained the procedure to me and gave me the option of doing it awake or anesthetized and I chose to do it awake. And I’m sitting here today because he did such a wonderful job.

Here at Sarasota Surgical Arts, I offer all of my patients for all of my procedures the availability of doing the procedure completely awake under local anesthesia. And that is for the smartlift, for any of the fat grafting, a transfer, eyelid surgeries, neck-lift surgeries, liposuction, both laser liposuction as well as standard liposuction, and also for any of the fat-grafting procedures, which we do completely under local anesthesia.
I first thought of getting breast implants when I was in high school. I thought about it for a while, but it was nothing really serious because I was a 34b. I was perfectly fine, and I thought I was at least about– I always wanted to be bigger. I had my son August 13th of last year, and I breast fed, and after I got done, I went down to a 32a. I was almost nothing. It made me really upset, depressed. I felt very insecure about myself in anything. I really didn’t like wearing clothes. I didn’t wear anything low cut. Everything was– I was very specific in what I wore. I didn’t like going to the beach. I hated wearing a bathing suit. I hated the way I looked. And about maybe a couple months ago, I was really serious into looking into breast implants.
I researched online everything that you had to research. I started looking up people. I made a consultation, free consultation appointment. Doctor Sessa was one of them, and I had another consultation in Fort Myers. Doctor Sessa was my first one that day, and I went there. I took my mom with me, and we loved him from right when we met him. He was very nice. He made you feel comfortable. Same with the staff. They made you feel comfortable. Everything like that. So, my mom told me to just cancel my other consultation and just stick with him. My mom said, I like him. He seems very nice, professional, everything like that, so I just stuck with him.
I booked my surgery that day for September 11th, and I did it. And the surgery was– I was very nervous. I’ve never had surgery before, ever. I had nothing. Never had a broken bone, nothing. I was very nervous, but I knew that I wanted it a lot, so I went through with it. I did it, and even in the surgery room, they made me feel really comfortable. And the recovery time was maybe 2 days. I was like, you know, I need help getting up, doing stuff like that. My mom took care of my son for maybe three days after. I could start driving around. I was okay to drive. As far as lifting, you couldn’t lift anything for two weeks. But after that, I felt great, even right after surgery, I loved it. Clothes fit me better.
I went to the beach a week after. I was so excited. It was great. I just loved it. I loved wearing clothes. I loved going out. It was awesome. I loved it. I would recommend Doctor Sessa to anybody. Anybody who asks me about my surgery, anyone who’s interested in asking me about it, I would recommend him. I think he’s a great man. He’s a great surgeon.
I’m very happy with my results. I’m more comfortable about myself. I feel so much better about myself because of him. Anybody who’s asked me– my friends have asked me, and I’ve recommended him. They’ve gone to his website already. He’s just a great man. I mean, he makes you feel so comfortable with yourself. Even before your surgery, he makes you feel comfortable, which is what I think you need even in order to have a consultation. You want someone that’s going to make you feel comfortable with yourself, and he does. Yep. I would definitely recommend him to anybody.

People come in, and they’re concerned about wrinkles on their forehead or deep creases in around here, they call them their elevens or the sort of crows feet on the sides of their eyes. I believe that a neurotoxin, which is Botox, which I use mostly — and there is another product out there called Disport — and that has shown to be very safe and effective as well. But a neurotoxin is really the best thing that you could use.
Now, what is Botox or how does this work? It’s a purified protein. But what it does is this material stops your nerve endings from actually
interacting with the muscle fibers. So, it creates a blockade there right at that juncture, and by blockading that, the muscle isn’t allowed to contract. So, if the muscle doesn’t contract, it doesn’t form the wrinkle. And over time, if you use it enough, it actually atrophies, and it shrinks, and the wrinkle becomes less and less apparent. However, that usually is somewhere between four to six months. So, every four to six months, you really need to do something, and you’ll slowly notice the wrinkles starting to come back. A Botox treatment generally costs between $200-$400, and that will treat your forehead, this area here called the glabella, and/or around your eyes.

One of the first things that we usually do during the consultation when we first begin is I take measurements, and I usually do some measurements that go from either your clavicle down to where your nipple is or from the middle part right here which is the sternal notch down to where your nipple is. And there’s certain sort of averages after looking at thousands of women that we sort of get this average. Most women usually fall between 18-and-a-half centimeters to 19 to about 22 as far as being in the natural area. Once a nipple starts to sort of either get level or sort of fall a little bit, at the level of the infamammary fold or a little bit lower than that, we start to experience a little bit of what is called tosis. Tosis is just a fancy word for, really, the skin envelope starting to droop a little bit, the ligaments are starting to stretch a little bit, and the nipple is starting to droop. When that happens, we really need to consider doing some sort of lifting procedure if you’re also considering doing an augmentation procedure at the same time.
Also, when our breasts begin to droop a little bit either after children or when we lose elasticity in our skin, we usually lose a lot of what is called upper pole. Now, what we mean by that is the area that goes above the nipple. That’s the upper pole of your breast. That usually tends to get hollow, and that’s the one thing that implants can really help with is that we could fill that area up again. And we also have the ability, at the same time, to do a nipple repositioning to put the nipple at a higher position to where it was maybe when we were 20-years old or before we had children, before the skin started to stretch. And women really, really appreciate that.
I do two types of nipple repositioning surgeries. When I do just regular augmentation surgeries, you’re gonna get a little bit of nipple elevation just from the augmentation alone. But sometimes it’s not quite enough. The augmentation will really just push the breast out and really make it larger in all dimensions, but it doesn’t really rotate it all that much. So, in order to help that out, I do two types. One type is a lollipop mastipexy. That’s where I need to do the largest amount of nipple movement where we move the nipple upwards but then you end up with a scar that goes around the nipple as well as down the middle. Okay? And usually, that’s most common procedure I do for nipple repositioning.
The second most common repositioning is if you only need about two centimeters, maybe two-and-a-half to three centimeters in terms of where your nipple sort of fell, if we’re doing an augmentation with that, the thing that’s great about this procedure is that I take a little bit of skin on top of the nipple, and I just elevate the nipple a little bit to a new position, but then, that combined with doing an implant, I’m really able to give you as close to a traditional lift without 90% of the scarring, because there’s no scar that goes all the way around the nipple or down. It’s just simply on the very top of the nipple. Sort of like a crescent. I call it the Crescent Lift, and I’m able to reposition the nipple to a higher position, as well as put an implant in, which then will help rotate it even more. And most women do really, really well with that, and that really helps solve the problem.
It happens that I — I wanted my hair, first I wanted my hairdresser to make my face round and give me this puffy hair. And she’s just saying, you know, I can’t do miracles (laughter) and so I wanted — I had had surgery about 15 years ago on my neck — a lift, and it wasn’t — it did not turn out very well. It was a little lopsided and it really didn’t do what I had expected. And I did go for a second mini-surgery to kind of even everything out and that didn’t work well. So I lived with that for 15 years and everything started falling and getting wrinkle and crepe paper look and resulted with this long face that I wanted to round out. And I went to dentists to see if the — if it was my teeth that were sunk in and making my face — and I had lost some weight, so everything looked drawn. And then that’s when I saw doctor Sessa’s T.V. program. T.V. interview. And wanted to — it was in the back of my mind to do something eventually. I was just afraid. And I came to doctor Sessa’s seminar and I was not afraid anymore. It just — he made me feel so comfortable. And I — this surgery came out perfect, I think.
When I came here and I walked in, I was greeted right away and paid attention to and just felt very comfortable. And everyone was — there was only one girl at first and then they started to come in and everyone was so nice and made me relax. Had me relax. And I don’t remember everything, but I was not afraid. I was just confident. And everything went fine. I don’t know, I don’t know too much until I woke up. I woke up fine. And just — they had me stay and sit a while and I went home and when I had to — I don’t know if I had to change bandages or what, but because of the lasik, laser, I noticed immediately that things were fine. The first time I took off the bandages, I said, oh, this looks all right. So I — and then a week after, after a week went by and the laser treatment is, is what looks so bad. Peeling, you peel. And after that, a week later, it all peels and you have this nice, smooth face and a nice neck. It looks good. And at 70, I think it’s, I look
pretty young and confident. It makes you very confident. You don’t hide as much. You don’t try and back off from things as much. You feel like you want to get out there.
And I — after — I didn’t mind going out to, anywhere any time because I told most of the people I knew and people I didn’t know, it didn’t matter, but I had told most everyone that I knew that I was having this done. And I didn’t — and because of the big change, you know, I couldn’t fake it anyway, so I’m glad I said something to my friends and neighbors. And they’re just shocked, they said — they would say, well, you must have gone to the right doctor. Doctor Sessa.
The staff is just wonderful, I just can’t get over, everyone is so nice. It feels like you’re part of the family here. Like you’re the only person that they’re waiting on.

I had this procedure in September with doctor Sessa and I had gone — I had seen his channel 7 interview and knowing that I wanted this long face done, it clicked in my mind and then I — then I did see an ad for his seminar. And so during the evening, I had — was looking at the paper and I saw that he had a seminar that night. And it — we needed reservations, so I told my husband, let’s just pop in. It probably won’t be anyone there. I’ll be the only one.
Well, we came — just jumped in the car and came over to doctor Sessa’s office and the gal — it had almost, we were a little late and the, the room was full and no seats. But — and I tease her now that she saw a candidate, a good candidate. So she was going to fit me in the back row no matter how — no matter what. She — I’ll get some chairs, I’ll get some chairs. And she set us in the back row and he put — Doctor Sessa put on a great seminar with the photos, videos, really was, I was really interested in, in what he had to offer. And so doctor Sessa has a free one-on-one if you’re interested after the seminar, so I did make appointment. We toured the back operating room area and so I made that appointment with doctor Sessa and wanted this round face and fat transplants and I had big ideas and he, he was just so honest about things saying that I shouldn’t have the fat transplant. It didn’t go with the features of my face. That I should just have the smart lift and it — I realized then that doctor Sessa was just honest and sincere about things and, you know, wasn’t trying to do more than he should and it was — I went forward from there. And no — everyone in the office is so wonderful. Everyone is just concerned and you get — and doctor Sessa is one on one every time I visit here. And I had — was very comfortable with everything. Not nervous. No pain. I called about a question — I can’t remember what the question was. I called doctor Sessa’s office thinking to speak to someone in the office the next day or the — two days later, and Doctor Sessa answered the phone. And I got — I received an answer and it was just amazing. And my weekly appointment, I came back, he said I was fine, I could do most anything. And I’m just happy with everything that’s happened. I had laser work done also with this and that’s inconvenient, but it’s worth it. But the smart lift with doctor Sessa is great. No, no problems.
